The Salvation Army
The Salvation Army is an international, evangelical organization with a mission to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and meet human needs in His name without discrimination. Founded in 1865, the Salvation Army is dedicated to doing the most good possible.
They assist displaced people with homeless shelters, transitional housing, permanent supportive housing, and re-entry resources.
They are working to fight food insecurities by funding food pantries, community gardens, and meal programs.
The organization is committed to supporting disaster survivors through emergency preparedness, immediate emergency response, and long-term disaster recovery. Watch the video below for a look into how The Salvation Army assisted the town of Joplin after a disastrous tornado tore through their community.
Just a few other groups they provide vital resources to are veterans, victims of domestic abuse, and children in need. They are responsible for serving 131 countries globally, and assist approximately 30 million Americans annually.
