ABOUT TRAFALGAR STRAPS
Trafalgar’s belt straps have no holes. They are designed to work with compression buckles only. A compression buckle is a style of plaque buckle without a prong. Instead, it has a mechanism that clamps down onto the strap at whatever point fits best. It allows for a better fit and frees the wearer from being limited by the placement of a hole. Our straps are guaranteed to fit with our buckles; be sure to match the same size strap with the same size buckle (i.e. 1” strap with a 1” buckle.) Because the thickness of the strap is equally as important as the width of the strap to work properly with the buckle, we recommend you purchase a Trafalgar buckle along with the Trafalgar strap. A Trafalgar strap is unlikely to fit with anything but a Trafalgar buckle.
Trafalgar Belt Buying Guide
To assure a proper fit, select a belt that is at least 2 inches larger than your pants size. For example, if your waist is 33 or 34 inches, choose a belt that is 36 inches.
Storing Leather Belts
To preserve the luster and natural beauty of Trafalgar belts we recommend that you hang them vertically, lay Trafalgar belts flat, or loosely coiled; tight coils will eventually stretch the leather. Store Trafalgar belts away from direct sunlight.
Casual vs. Dress Belts
Trafalgar suggests wearing dress belts with suits and other business attire; casual belts with jeans or dress slacks.
The Story of Trafalgar’s Signature Cortina Leather Collection
Trafalgar’s Signature Cortina Leather Collection epitomizes the beauty and craftsmanship of luxurious yet durable leather accessories. Our Cortina Leather possesses outstanding attributes that elevate it above its competitors. The source of the Cortina leather is specific and unique. The hides come from cows free-roaming in the Belgian countryside where barbed wire is never used, a precaution that eliminates the inevitable scarred hides found in most other leathers. The leather is selected only from the hide’s shoulder area, whose fat wrinkles’ contrasting highs and lows show the most depth and richness of color. The Cortina leather is drum dyed and aniline finished, meaning the leather is submersed in vegetable dye for up to two months ensuring the color fully penetrates the leather and enhances the natural grain. The vegetable tanning process allows the natural color of the hide to come through, burnishing with age and resulting in a beautiful patina finish. Cortina leather will maintain the rich highlighting of natural grain for a lifetime.
For over 20 years, Trafalgar has provided the finest Cortina leather belts. The Trafalgar Cortina belt has become our mainstay, a testament to the beauty of the Cortina leather. Over the past several years, Trafalgar expanded the Cortina belt collection to include new silhouettes all beautifully designed and handcrafted and has expanded the Cortina Leather Collection to now include wallets.
